Engineering Services Contract Resolution – May 9, 2017

Resolution of the Board at the May 9, 2017 meeting.

A brief history of the water main replacement project to date was given including Don Cosgro and Tom’s efforts to locate service valves and measure potential service routes.  Due to the still remaining number of unknowns involved, the utility committee recommended that the board go forward with the hiring of an engineering firm.  Tom re-iterated the previously obtained bids which we received in March and stated he had recently confirmed with the low bidder that their bid was still valid.  Peter asked if it was felt we should authorize both engineering services and construction inspection.  Tom replied that since it was still possible that service lines will end up being the least cost option he recommended we authorize the engineering services only at this time since he felt construction inspection would not be needed if only service lines were being installed.  Motion by Tom to authorize AEDA to perform engineering services for the amount of $4300; seconded by Peter; passed 6-0.
